..."Gran Torino" is all kinds of awesome. I love those mean old faces only Clint Eastwood can make, and I love all that cussing he does. I laughed my ass off in places, and my eyes welled up a few times too...and I watched the credits all the way to the end, which I really never do. I wrote about this on Facebook, but I do really recommend this one, and I'm sorry I hated that boxing movie he did (and his butchering of "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil", but I dare not say that on Facebook as The Lady Chablis is a friend over there and I would hate to get the shank) so much that I managed to not see this one in theatres.

And while I'm at it, I really also loved "Drag Me To Hell". That movie wasted no chance of getting old lady green spew into the mouth of the lead actress. My friend and I were howling with laughter at the $1.50 movies, but other people around us were scared, which brings the lols all over again.

Where's that blueberry progress report?

I've missed you.

Blueberries were off the chain this year. There were so many that I stopped picking, because my freezer is full. There are STILL more out there, I guess I should just go and pick some...soon. :) At least the birds are happy.

And I now have chickens to occupy my time...six of them. I'm currently getting 4 eggs a day, and much lols out of the whole thing.

I missed you too.

A clucky little harem.

Did you go for Rhode Island Red sex-linkeds, both meat and eggs, or those silly high-strung ovarian-overdrive egg-a-day Leghorns?

I like Barred Rocks. Ours never got too excited about anything, and they were dressy.

I have 4 ISA Brown and 2 Australorp hens. The ISA hens are sweet and friendly, while the Australorps, being a little younger and not laying yet, are shy and one is a little aggressive. I'm watching that bird, and it better not be a rooster, or away he goes. I pick them both up every day and hold them to my chest, put my hands on them and tell them they are MY birds, and they better watch their shit. Not literally, as they are all shit factories, but figuratively.
Turns out they're kinda sorta like what we kept when I was a pup. Er, make that "when I was an even younger pup".

We bought a hatching of Australorps once, or at least I think they were Australorps. Good birds but at one crucial point really, really tedious: My grandma was not about to eat EVEN ONE pinfeather. And those dark ones, against pale skin...

Big hug and nice to have news of you again. Don't go drifting away for so long the next time, 'k?

I caught "Gran Torino" recently, too, and loved it. Wasn't quite sure until the end where it was going to go. Nicely done.
